You do not need to read Korean to start planning with Naver Map. The bigger challenge is selecting the correct place and understanding the last few minutes of the route.
Start with three saved places
Set the app language to English, find your exact accommodation, and save your arrival point and first destination. Test a simple route before depending on the app in a crowded station.
1. Set the language and find the exact listing
KTO confirms that Naver Map supports English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese, alongside Korean. Choose your preferred language in the app settings. Menu locations can change between versions. Search the English name first; if the result is ambiguous, paste the Korean address from the accommodation’s own confirmation.
Match the full address and branch name. A chain café or similarly named guesthouse can appear in several districts. Keep the Korean address saved as text so you can show it to staff even when pronunciation is difficult.
2. Compare a route you can actually follow
Naver Map provides route estimates by travel mode and public-transport information. Select the mode you intend to use. A driving result is not a walking route. Read the transfers and the final walk rather than choosing only the smallest number of minutes.
For a station journey, note the line, direction, transfer and exit. If you need a lift, confirm the accessible entrance rather than treating the nearest exit as the best one. When traveling with luggage, a slightly longer route with fewer transfers can be the better practical choice.
3. Use listings as a starting point
Business information, photographs and reviews help identify a place. They are not a guarantee that a restaurant will admit you just before closing. For a visit that matters, check the venue’s own announcements for reservation requirements, last orders and holiday changes.
When something looks wrong
Stop walking and compare your surroundings with the street and building names. Check whether you selected the right branch and mode. If a route would require an unsafe crossing or entering a private area, follow local signs and find a legitimate alternative. Keep the destination address available for assistance.
