Five Days in Seoul Without Wasting Time on Bad Routes

This is a flexible five-day structure for a first Seoul visit, not a sequence of timed reservations. Keep each day in one broad area and swap days when closures or weather make that useful.

Day 1: make arrival a light day
Reach your accommodation, learn the nearby station entrance and save the address in your map app. Have a meal nearby. A late flight or slow baggage collection should not cost you a prepaid activity. If you arrive early and feel well, add a short walk rather than a cross-city excursion.
Day 2: choose one major historic visit
Make Gyeongbokgung the anchor, then leave room for a nearby meal and an unhurried walk. Visit Seoul lists Tuesday as the regular closing day, with public-holiday exceptions. Check the calendar for your date and swap this day if needed. Do not stack multiple large heritage sites simply because they appear close on a map.
Day 3: give the west side time
Use Hongdae as the center of a café, shopping or neighborhood day. Choose places you are interested in rather than collecting every famous stop. If your accommodation is elsewhere, decide on the evening return route before you stay out late.
Day 4: leave space for what you buy
Plan a central shopping day around Myeongdong and one additional activity of your choice. Carrying purchases can change how much walking feels comfortable. Schedule a return to your room if needed instead of dragging bags through the rest of the day.
Day 5: keep a deliberate gap
Return to a favorite district, choose a museum for poor weather, or do the one thing you most regretted missing. On departure day, make luggage collection and the airport journey the anchors. A free morning is not permission to ignore the time needed to retrieve bags.
How to adapt it
Traveling with children or limited walking stamina? Keep one main stop and one optional stop per day. Prefer culture to shopping? Replace Day 4’s shopping with a museum you select from the official city guide.
